Captivating Composition

The art of photography often involves meticulous planning and creative vision to bring a captivating image to life. Recently, during a master class in Oslo, I had the opportunity to put this principle into practice and create a truly magical photo in a picturesque park setting.

Long before the shoot, I carefully selected a location within the park that would provide the perfect backdrop for my vision. Inspired by the natural beauty of the forest, I envisioned a scene that would capture the ethereal essence of the woodland surroundings. With this in mind, I chose a spot framed by majestic trees and dappled sunlight filtering through the branches.

To enhance the visual impact of the photo, I decided to incorporate a flowing dress with a long train, reminiscent of the graceful movement of leaves in the wind. With the help of an assistant, we orchestrated a dynamic aerial effect by tossing the fabric into the air, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and motion.

The original gray color of the dress was transformed into a vibrant green hue, evoking the lush foliage of the forest and adding a sense of harmony to the composition. Against this verdant backdrop, the model's static pose takes on a sense of serenity, her form gracefully mirroring the organic shapes of the surrounding branches and foliage.

As I framed the shot and captured the moment, I couldn't help but feel a profound connection to the natural world around me. To me, the forest is more than just a collection of trees; it is a living, breathing entity with its own soul and spirit. In this photo, I sought to convey the delicate balance between strength and fragility, capturing the essence of a massive oak tree in the delicate shoots of young saplings breaking through the forest floor.
